LEARNING THE BASICS

FREE Professional Skills Workshops for Kids

CONWAY + MAUMELLE + GREENBRIER + MORRILTON | AR

3RD - 8TH GRADE

It’s Never Too Early to Start Learning

Our goal is to provide children with the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills and learn about different professions at a young age. We believe that it's never too early to start learning!

Fundamentals Go is a local program that aims to help parents and experienced mentors provide children with exposure to professions other than STEAM, music, and sports during their early childhood. We want children to have the option to find what they enjoy the most in their early childhood versus waiting to find out in high school or college.

We do this by hosting workshops for kids in grades 3rd - 8th that focus on various professions like architects, photographers, chefs, pilots and more! These events are 100% volunteer based and absolutely free for all attendees. We encourage you and your child(ren) to join us!

FAQS
  • When do the workshops begin?
We are set to launch our first series of workshops in March 2024. We are actively working behind the scenes to secure volunteers and venues.
  • Is there a limited amount of children that are able to attend the workshops?
Yes. There will only be a maximum of 10 students per workshop. This maintains the workload balance for the instructors and allows for the students to have more individualized attention. Each workshop will be opened on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, students may opt-in to more than one workshop at a time if the schedule works for them.
  • Are parents allowed to join the workshop?
Parents are not restricted to classroom attendance but are encouraged to stay in the waiting areas so that the child can remain fully focused on the activity without distraction or interference.
  • Do children have to apply to attend?
No, children only have to register for the workshop. There is not an application process for the children. Workshops will be taught with regard to the average age and grade level understanding of the profession.
  • Do you have a strict cancellation policy?
No. We are considerably aware that things happen and come up often. If we notice a high volume of missed attendance at the expense of our volunteers, then we will begin implementing cancellation guidelines. Our volunteers will work very hard for several hours to provide the best experiences and knowledge to the children in the community. We ask that you do your best to bring your child to the workshop when your child is registered.
  • What are some examples of the professional skills that will be offered?
Workshop titles and descriptions will be decided by the professional instructor. Check out this link to get a general idea of what to expect. 15 Types of Professional Soft Skills (With Definitions) Indeed.comhttps://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/professional-skills
  • Where will workshops be hosted?
We are looking to secure open availability from local libraries and co-working venues that allow room reservations. We also solicit sponsorship opportunities for local businesses to grant free access to the use of their available space.
  • Do volunteers have to be licensed to teach?
No. These workshops are structured to learn applicable professional skills and can be taught by individuals who have proven knowledge of their chosen profession.
  • Will there be background checks performed on the volunteers?
Yes. Fundamentals Go will cover the costs of verifying the backgrounds of any individual that is approved to teach.
  • Is there a volunteer application?
Yes. Please select the button below to apply to teach a workshop.
  • Are workshops scheduled for a specific number of days each week and how long will they last?
Students can choose to enroll in classes in 4, 6, and 8-week intervals, one day per week. Class durations will maintain a minimum of 45 minutes up to a maximum of 90 minutes.
  • How much do the workshops cost?
Attendance of our workshops are 100% volunteer based and free. Depending on the trade or course your child selects to learn, you may be responsible for purchasing minimal project equipment.

Mission and Vision

MISSION & VISION

Our mission is to expand the world of learning for early childhood development by helping children find their interests and inspirations sooner rather than later in life.

We envision a world where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. It is our hope to inspire the next generation to find their true passions and encourage them to chase after them.

About Our Founder

Maya is the Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Day Dream Design Firm, a branding firm that collaborates with entrepreneurs and businesses nationwide. She is an Arkansas native; born in Little Rock. In 2011 she graduated High School from Temple Baptist Academy in Jacksonville, AR. After graduating, Gray attended Harding University for two years and completed her graphic design certification at Sessions College for Professional Design Online.

Although she has a business administration background, her artistic talent and her love for technology strengthened her ability to excel in the marketing industry.

Maya is passionate about empowering individual aspirations and dreams. Her mission is to make a generational difference in the lives of others.

As a wife and mom of 3 young children, she loves to spend her downtime planning family activities and scrapbooking. Fundamentals Go has been a dream of hers for over 5 years now and she is humbled to see it finally come to fruition. The brand is planning to expand with a mobile tutoring service because before she was a wife, she was a single mother with a son who struggles with a learning disability and ADHD.

She saw the value in the need for support in actively working full-time and accommodating travel to and from therapy—“The luxury of convenience is not available to everyone.” Fundamentals Go will contribute to the picture of community progression in a small way.
